¡Buenas Noches! If you didn't know this already about me, I am absolutely terrible with directions. At home, I rely on my phone as a GPS. Here, there is not a way to use the GPS because I do not have service. When there is wifi, I am able to communicate via social media and look up directions. When I am walking, I am not able to use my phone. Today, I have started to get to know my surroundings a bit more. On our trip, I would frequently ask, "How do I get...?" or "How can I get to my home stay from here?" I'm almost certain that if you were to ask anyone on this trip, they would say I would be the last person to figure out how to walk to our next location. Yes it has only been 4 days, but everyone has "caught on" to where they are going. Even though it took me longer, I am proud that I was able to figure things out. The photo above is a picture of some of the street art that I passed as I was walking.
I am definitely going to to make this blog short because I am exhausted from our 4 hour Spanish class, school field placements, mall walking, and outings to other stores.
My field placement was with 7th graders at a Catholic school today. When I walked into the classroom, I was shocked to see about 40 students sitting in rows in front of me. The classroom was extremely different. There was not anything on the walls, twice as many students, and not a lot of structure. Time is very lenient in Chile. When class started, not everyone was there. Many students arrived late after the bell. Once I got situated in the classroom, a group of students were talking to me about life in the United States. I felt goose bumps on my arms because of how excited I was to be there!
I'm ready for another day of Spanish tomorrow- I still have Spanish homework to finish!
