I can’t believe I am finally in Chile! Its absolutely beautiful and the people are so nice. Yesterday I met my host family and they were so welcoming; I immediately felt at home! My host family includes: my mom, dad, two sisters, and a niece. Although only two of my host family members speak English, it is incredible what we are able to communicate through hand gestures.
Today was my first day at Ecela. Ecela is the school we are attending to learn Spanish! I took Spanish classes in high school, but I barely remember anything, so I am starting over! My first day of classes went very well and I can’t wait to see how well I speak Spanish by the end of our trip! After school we had the opportunity to walk through Santiago and go to see the mountains from a hill. It was breathe-taking. We saw the overview of the city and saw the mountains with snow on the top while standing next to a palm tree. After exploring a little we went back to our school for a BBQ. The BBQ was a lot of fun and I had the chance to meet more people!
