So since I lasted blogged much has happened. I got to teach my very first lesson, meeting many wonderful students and teachers, endlessly stare at the mountains, and conquer two of my fears (the subway and dancing). Honestly walking into the classroom of 7th graders and having my classmates look at me and go “Let’s do your lesson” was the most terrifyingly exciting sentences I think I have ever heard. My nerves were going crazy as I walked to the front of the room and begin to read to the class, but as I kept going with encouragement from my class mates it just came naturally. The students were so excited that we wanted them to make a post card about themselves. I believe it is very important for students to be able to express how they feel and their likes. The lesson went amazing.
Now to these mountains. Pictures do not bring them any justice. On the bus rides to our placements the past two days we have been all just staring out the window at how beautiful they are. I am so excited to go hiking in the Andes on Saturday. They are just so jaw dropping. Now I see why so many people freak out about Niagara Falls. I also went on the subway again after our not so first lovely time. It was still pretty crowded but I focused on staying calm and getting off at the right stop. Subways are confusing enough let alone in another language. When in Chile you must dance. All of us danced and let all the homesick and worries go away. It was empowering to be able to relax a little.
