On May 27th 2017, my travel group and I went to the Andes Mountains. I've seen mountains before in Jamaica but not half the size of the Andes Mountains. In my head, I thanked God over and over again for allowing me to experience his beautiful creations. I am beyond grateful for the peacefulness I felt on the mountains. Living in the city, can be quite noisy and finally I was able to appreciate silence and reflect on my time here in Chile.
Wow! Finally I get to be on the mountains that I see from far away while walking down the streets of Providencia. It took us about two hours to get up to the mountains. Looking out the window and seeing the mountains get closer and closer was breath taking. Never in a million years did I think I would see such a sight. Our driver drove us up to the highest point that he possibly could. We walked along side the mountains and took tons of pictures.
The walk was really long but I enjoyed walking through all the snow and slush. Bryanna, Rachel, Onnika, and I built a snowman; we decided to name him Andy. Bryanna did most of the work (haha) but we all brought him to life. Rachel added a hat that says “Chile” and Onnika and I gave him eyes and buttons. This was my favorite part of being on the mountains we had so much fun! As we continued walking we saw a man with a dog sled, I was so fascinated like wow that’s awesome! This was something I thought I would only see in the movies. I took a video as they sped past us.
On our way back we had fresh made empanadas from a local family owned restaurant. They were so good and they were the best I've had thus far. Around 6pm, we headed back to our homestays, I was exhausted but so happy that I got to spend my entire day on the Andes Mountains.
Until next time,
