Yesterday, Saturday, April 29th, officially marked three weeks until we embark on a journey that has awaited us all semester. I can’t begin to count the number of times I stopped to think, “Wait, we leave three weeks from today?” It is unreal that we have so little time left in the States to prepare ourselves culturally, academically, and financially as well. It feels like I just received the email telling me the incredible news that I have been accepted to participate in IPDS Chile 2017. I have continuously felt an incredible amount of certainty that this IPDS experience will change me for the better, as both a person and an educator. I know that the semester flying by means that our time in Chile will do the same, but this only shows me how much I’ll need to absorb each and every second down in Santiago. I am feeling ecstatic, nervous, appreciative, anxious and so joyful pondering what I could possibly be about to experience. Though I have been out of the country to Poland before, this will be my first academic-related travel abroad experience. Our group of nine girls (and our three incredible professors!) have spent the past few months growing as a cohort, group of teachers, and most importantly, as a family. I cannot wait to spend the three weeks together, immersing ourselves in all that Chile has to offer. Of course, I am beyond thrilled to see our Universidad Mayor friends again very soon! I am glad we had the opportunity to meet them when they visited Buffalo in January & February – I am excited that they will be there to show us around the city! Our host families, Chilean students, Universidad Mayor friends, the Andes Mountains, an endless amount of opportunity and lots of new foods to try (!!!) await us… Here’s to an experience of a lifetime!

Christine aka Social Butterfly - I'm so very excited for you and can't wait to hear all about your adventures. You and Katie do make a pretty awesome duo. We've seen what you can do for CEC so I'm looking forward to hearing what happens when you bring your collective talents abroad. There are so many exciting things in store for you over the coming weeks and we're happy we get to vicariously live these adventures alongside you (virtually, but still!) You are such a wonderful writer; I could read paragraphs and paragraphs of your entries. I'm sure you will be tired (exhausted) and busy actually living these experiences but I will still eagerly read anything you have the time to write. Safe travels and enjoy every second of this opportunity!! We'll need to plan a de-briefing session after you return so I can hear first-hand how wonderful your experience was :)
