Katie and I spent our final full day yesterday visiting the San Cristóbal Hill, which is the second highest point in the city. At the top stands a statue of the Virgin Mary – a sanctuary dedicated to the Immaculate Conception. The peak provided a beautiful view of the mountains in the distance, overlooking over the entire city of Santiago. This gave us the chance to say our final goodbyes to this beautiful city that has treated us so well these past few weeks. As emotional as we became for a few moments on our way back down, I turned to Katie and said, “We’ll be back someday. And if we’re not, this is something we will remember for the rest of our lives.” I full-heartedly know Chile will truly remain in my heart forever, and I’m returning with stories that I will be able to tell for decades to come.
One last breakfast with Katie prepared by our lovely host mom; one last walk around Providencia; one last look at the mountains. Off to the airport very soon… See you all soon!
Muchas Gracias, Chile. Te extrañaré.
