With only three more days until I get on a plane and leave for Chile, I am finishing my preparations and packing. I am very excited but also nervous. It is going to be very different from what I am used to and I know that I am going to miss my family and friends back home. I wonder what it is going to be like to live with a family who I have never met with no one familiar around. Still, I know that it will be a great experience. I am very excited to begin the Spanish classes in the college to improve my Spanish through more formal classes. I am also very excited to see what the schools are like and meet the children. I am happy that I received a new camera for my birthday so I will be able to take lots of great pictures of all of the sites that we are going to see so that I will remember it for a very long time. This is going to be an amazing experience and I am so glad that it is almost here. Now to get back to the headache of packing and getting ready.

In 26 days, we will be getting on a plane and leaving for Chile! Now that I am done with my major projects and only have a couple of exams, I am becoming much more excited. I am also excited that I have received a scholarship for part of the cost. I still have to finish getting ready though. I need to finish emailing my pen pals and creating the items which I need to bring for my lessons and activities.
I have started working on my research project by interviewing my cooperating teacher at Bennett Park Montessori. When I received my research proposal back, I needed to revise my research question and after the interview, I have been able to do this. Now I will be studying how the arrangement of the day affects the behavior of students. I thought that this would be interesting and from listening to my teacher, it sounds like there are huge effects. Also from my past experience, I have been able to see changes as well. I am somewhat nervous to email my pen pals because starting conversations with people whom I do not know makes me anxious; however, I know that I need to overcome this and it will be a good way to start. I am also somewhat nervous because I was thinking about writing my email in Spanish in order to practice and I want them to be able to understand it. I want to have a basis of the language when I arrive in order to communicate with people. I am interested in learning from my pen pals about the country that they live in and what it is like to live there. It will also be nice to know people when I get there so that I will not feel as nervous. Although there is still a lot that I need to do to get ready, I am becoming very excited about the trip. |
