5 days until we leave for Santiago!
Once again working in the office on lesson plans and putting some final To-Do lists together to plan for the rest of the week. I am feeling pretty good about where I am at with everything right now. I still have to come up with a couple more “back pocket” ideas for when I am in the classroom and we have free time. I am also going to collect some authentic American reading materials to bring with me for them to look at and possibly translate as part of one of my lessons. I am really not that nervous any more and the excitement of finally leaving has taken over! I know the next few days will fly by. I am going to finish up all my lesson preparations today and tomorrow and then just spend as much time as possible with Knicholas before I leave!

18 days until we leave for Santiago!
Happy to say I am completely done with all of my finals and totally finished with Spring semester. I came to campus today to work on more lessons and planning for our trip. I heard back from my pen pals and will hopefully talk to them more over the next two weeks. We also got addresses and a few details about the families we will be living with. Living with a host family is probably the one thing I am most nervous about. It is hard to anticipate moving in with people you have never met. I am looking forward to meeting them and getting to know them! I am most excited for experiencing a new city and culture. Overall, I am actually trying not to over think the whole experience because I am not sure what to expect so I want to go in with an open mind instead of getting stuck on what I imagine it to be. Luckily, I will be pretty busy up until the day we leave so we will be leaving before I know it! -Danielle 24 days until we leave for Santiago! Today I came to campus to work on lesson plans and planning for Chile; we have our last group meeting today at 3:00pm! It is crazy that this whole trip has come together so quickly! Now that the semester is finishing up, I really have time to sit down and plan for my lessons that I will be teaching during the third week we are at the school. So far, I have some fun activities including BINGO and Hangman. I am also developing some more challenging writing activities depending on how well the students know English. I also just sent my first emails to my penpals, Catalina and Danella. I am hoping to hear back from them soon! |
