Since I have been home, I have found that I really have adjusted to the Chilean culture and it still resides in me. I noticed that rather than my old 20 minute shower habits, I've been taking very short showers but yet not feeling rushed at all. I cannot sleep in late at all due to waking up early every day there (even on the weekends... host mom believed in family breakfast!). I feel myself being more conservative with water and with energy, turning off all the lights when they're not in use, un-plugging outlet cords, etc. Driving my car wow what a luxury that I have missed! It felt so weird at first to drive! Now, I find I do not like to drive as far out because I would rather conserve my gas... who am I ? I've also even began cooking typical Chilean meals my host mom would make for dinner! I guess you can say I'm a little homesick! (yes, I do mean home).
During my time home, I have already started looking into other study abroad opportunity programs throughout the world. I know that Buffalo State offers an Italy trip for three weeks, the same program as this one, in the winter and it is my hope that it is offered next winter as well. If so, this girl is going to Italy!
I would love nothing more than to continue exploring the world, learning more about myself, other cultures, and other educational systems from throughout the world. Each country, each culture has something to offer, and I cannot wait to explore it and learn all about it myself.
