Hola Chica(o)s ! So many things have occured since I landed in Santiago, Chile on Sunday May 24,2015 at 8:30am. It all started with my luggage not landing in Chile, according to Delta air line it was still in the airport of Atlanta, Georgia. There could've been many attached emotions to this desperate situation. From being mad, sad, anxious, and much more. However, a surprised to all the girl I chose to be : JOLLY. I learned that God would not put me through something that I myself couldn't handle. Visiting Chile is a once in a life time experience, although I plan to visit all of South America one day. I can already see my growth as woman and it's only been TWO days !! Chile has open my eyes to see the world in such a different way, to the understanding of humankind, and it's real purpose in this world. One of the best experiences that I've been welcomed to with open arms is the Spanish school: ESCELA. I know your probaly thinking, Spanish school ? You do not need that. See the irony of life has taught me that I do. Though I am fluent in Spanish, my grammar is not so well. For the couple of days that I've been in the school my spanish grammar has already improved so much. From learning how to use certain words in a present, and past tense. Morever, they placed me in an advanced spanish conversational course. This course has gave me the opportunity to learn from different individuals living in different countries aside from USA. Individuals who all play a big part in the world. From being in the military, teaching in England, or an executive secretary of a company in Brazil. Being the youngest in class, their wisdom has influenced me very positively. Today we discussed a topic that was proposed in the USA around the year of 2006 by a guy name Miller. The article spoke about a city that would be name Laurent near South Dakota, a city that will provide land and hospitality for people whom are death. The people who are not death and want to live in this city must learn sign language. Such a heated/controversial conversation in class today, yet very intersting and intellectual. The thing that SCARES me the most is that as an U.S citizen I am not aware of the things that are currently occuring in our country.Too caught up on other things like social media. A Fear to know that outside people know more of us than we know of ourselves. Here on this blog I promise to read all current, and past events not just ocurring in the USA, but all over the world. A mind that is inform is a mind that GROWS. Today I walked almost 3,000 feet to visit the Virgin of San Cristobal in Santiago de Chile. I've decided that I wanted to walk with my chica Nathalie. As we walk and the altitude increase my heart began pounding really fast. There weren't any borders protecting us as we walked up. I felt that anytime I could loose my balance and fall. Nonetheless, my angel send by GOD: Nathalie, was there through it all to support me. A great BATTLE BUDDY she was and is. I also met a chilean girl name Nathalie oo. Such a great and positive spirit. Both helped me make it through such journey that at the moment was a decision of life or death. Nonetheless, I am a prideful woman that would not let this mission failed. I MADE it all the way to the top. Gracias DIOS. More journeys to occur... Looking for a TATTOO PARLOR NEXT !!!!

Hola Alexia! Muy mucha suerte en su aventura! I am very sorry your luggage was delayed. That happened to me, too, when I went to Sud America to teach in Colombia. It took three days, but I was able to borrow from my host. As a latina, you are a real asset to your amigas, but it is very interesting to hear that you are learning and growing, too. I am so glad you chose this trip. Think about teaching, chica...it is the best profession in the world!
